STARRY PLOUGH
3101 Shattuck Avenue (at Prince Street), Berkeley Hosts: Charles Ekabhumi Ellik, Betsy Gomez and friends I often go to Berkeley Slam to compete for a top prize of $100 in cash! If you want to sign up to slam, get there by 7:15 to make sure you're included in the first drawing! There's a $7.00 cover charge, and the Plough serves good pub food: fish and chips, pizza, burgers and steak fries, sandwiches, salads. I recommend getting to the Plough by 7:30 if you want to get a table for dinner or a seat in the front row (which are the best in the house, in my opinion)!
EVERY SECOND SUNDAY
- 7 to 10 pm
MAMA
CALIZO'S VOICE FACTORY THEATER
1519 Mission (at 11th), San Francisco (inside the old Jon Sim's center) Hosts: Mona Webb and Charles Ekabhumi Ellik I am usually one of several poets competing for $100 in cash prizes.
If you want
to
slam, get there before 7 pm to sign up;
but you don't need to compete! You can read on the
Experimental Open Mic,
and still be involved in the fun while you refrain from
the competition.
**San Francisco Slam could use your support**
Come
on out and enjoy the slam, support the team
and
help keep the slam scene strong!
Come on out, support the poets (there's a $6.00 cover, plus snacks and drinks available for purchase). You can sign up for the experimental open mic or even compete in the slam yourself. This is big fun and high energy; you'll have a great time! 2235 Fourth Street (cross street J), Livermore Host: Karen Hogan Karen runs this amazing reading in Livermore, well worth the trip. Every month each reader gets 10 minutes, and you can read prose, poetry, play music, sing― whatever you like. And you can get published, too! Every year Karen and I edit Livermore Wine Country Literary Harvest, an anthology chock full
of the best submissions from attendees of her reading. So
attend!
Bring a snack to share with everyone, and beverage if you like. People usually bring wine and a variety of potluck goodies upon which to munch.
EVERY SECOND SATURDAY

CENTER FOR THE ARTS
