Reiki is a Far East technique of relaxation, stress reduction,
and healing. Reiki means "spiritually guided life energy."
The Japanese characters, or kanji, that make up the word
are Rei (spiritual wisdom) and ki (life energy).

Dr. Mikao Usui of Japan was the discoverer of Reiki, and he
began practicing Reiki in the early 1900s. For many years,
the teachings of Reiki were not available outside Japan.
In 1938, Mrs. Hawyao Takata brought Reiki
to the Western hemisphere.
